Edouard de Rothschild is leaving Lamm de Fétan in the stable for now

Lamm de Fétan is not yet ready ready for action again.

In the following message, sent from the RB Presse agency, Edouard de Rothschild justified his decision not to let the stallion he bought from the Mars family run again yet: "Since his purchase last July, Lamm de Fétan has suffered from intermittent limping. The limp is on a bone oedema on the ankle joint of the inner front foot.

The condition has existed for several years already and was known at the time of purchase. He will only return to shows when this health problem has been cured completely which will hopefully be next summer. We act this way due to the stallion's extraordinary qualities and due to the morals I have as a lover of horses, to respect the horse in general as part of responsible stable management."

By telephone, Edouard de Rothschild also adds: "This announcement should explain why Lamm de Fétan has not yet taken part in horse shows again. I am not questioning the purchase in the slightest. I bought the horse, although Dr. Perrin pointed out the risk. Today I am announcing my intentions because the public has the right to know whether and when this extraordinary horse will return to the track. Riders and breeders are asking questions. Wasn't this horse named Horse of the Year by Cavadeos? I am the chairman of France Galop, and I claim honest, upright integrity. I would never experiment with a horse of this calibre if he is not 100% able to take part in a competition. I think that the breeders who are waiting for foals from this stallion have the right to know why Lamm is not racing, and those who want to breed their mares with him have the right to know why this is not possible at present. I don't want him to do it with painful front feet."

Finally he adds: "I'm not worried, he will return. But it is a sad story. It's not normal just to buy a horse in July and not use him until the following summer." After that it is only one year until the London Olympics. Will there be enough time for Edouard de Rothschild to qualify for Israel as he planned to do?
